The Social Work Truancy service is based within a broader multi-disciplinary team, consisting of other allied health professionals and experienced educators known as Student Support Services. The Student Support Services (SSS) team works with schools and preschools to assist them to support the strengths, opportunities and additional needs of learners. This service is time-limited and based on identified and agreed upon goals, recorded in a service plan. The nature and level of support is tailored to each site's needs.
The Social Work Truancy service provides support to preschools and schools, parents, children/young people and external providers to address concerns of truancy, attendance, engagement and retention issues tailoring evidence based interventions at a proactive, targeted or intensive case level for sustainable change.
As a Social Worker you are required to demonstrate a high level of professionalism, autonomy, integrity and culturally responsive practice whilst providing a high level of service.
This position works with the professional support of the Senior Social Worker.

The successful applicant is required to gain a Department for Human Services (DHS) working with children check (WWCC) prior to being employed which is required to be renewed every five years before expiry.
The incumbent will be required to undertake RRHAN -EC (Responding to Risks of Harm, Abuse and Neglect - Education Care) Facilitator Lead (Masterclass) extended course or the online (Fundamentals) course which will be required to be updated every three years.
