Job Title: Senior Clinician (headspace) - Katherine
Senior Clinician Headspace Katherine plays a vital role in providing comprehensive mental health services to young people and their families. This position requires a dynamic individual who is dedicated to delivering youth-friendly, family-inclusive care and coordinating recovery-focused programs.
Key Responsibilities:
Clinical Practice & Responsibilities:
In this role, you will provide a youth-friendly, inclusive service for young people with mild to moderate mental health issues. This includes conducting assessments, facilitating referrals to external services, and managing clinical risk issues. You will utilize a strength-based, client-centered approach during bio-psycho-social assessments and ensure that complex matters are escalated appropriately. Additionally, you will provide direct clinical care and support to young people and families, offering age-appropriate mental health interventions and conducting routine screenings for substance abuse.
Functional Recovery Program
Coordination:
As the Clinical Youth Mental Health Coordinator, you will lead, develop, and facilitate recovery-focused group programs for young people and families. Your responsibilities will include ensuring that recovery strategies consider the impact of treatments on daily life activities and implementing proven strategies for functional restoration. You will also establish links with internal and external agencies to complement recovery efforts and support young people on their journey to wellness.
Multi-disciplinary Teams and Service Sector Connection:
Collaboration is key in this role. You will represent headspace Katherine at community events and outreach clinics, working alongside the multidisciplinary clinical team to provide responsive care. Your support will extend to staff in treatment planning and clinical decision-making, including providing supervision as needed. You will also assist in optimizing continuity of care by integrating services with relevant organizations in Katherine. Additionally, you will promote continuous professional development and support the delivery of core program components.
Selection Criteria:
Position Specific Requirements:
Possess a minimum tertiary qualification in an approved health-related discipline and be registered with the relevant regulatory body such as APHRA, or hold membership of and adhere to professional standards, such as the AASW for Social Workers. Additionally, demonstrate at least 3 years of experience in mental health.
Demonstrate extensive experience in conducting initial mental health assessments, including risk assessments and screening activities, utilizing comprehensive bio-psycho-social assessments to ascertain young people's needs.
Showcase proven experience in delivering brief therapeutic interventions and devising treatment plans using evidence-based interventions both over the phone and in face-to-face settings.
Exhibit effective leadership skills with a track record of providing clinical leadership and supervision within multidisciplinary teams.
Possess evidence-based knowledge of models of group clinical interventions suitable for young people across a spectrum of mental illness severity, particularly Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT). This necessitates excellent organizational and time management skills.
Demonstrate passion, energy, and determination to effect positive changes in mental health outcomes for young people and their families, maintaining cultural sensitivity and a commitment to working with young Aboriginal people and their families in a culturally appropriate and safe manner.

Possess a valid Northern Territory Working with Children Clearance (Ochre Card).
Provide a National Police Criminal History Report, dated less than three months old, with an acceptable outcome.
Have the ability to meet 100-point ID requirements and additional visa/overseas work compliance measures.
Hold a valid Northern Territory Driver's Licence.
Obtain a First Aid Certificate (or demonstrate willingness to obtain within an agreed timeframe).
