Dispute Resolution & Support Services Branch | APS 5 | Adelaide, Brisbane, Canberra, Darwin, Hobart, Melbourne, Perth, SydneyClosing date: 12/06/2024 11:45 PMEligibilityThe Fair Work Commission (FWC) requires Australian citizenship as a condition of engagement.To be eligible for employment with the Commission, the successful applicant must undergo and satisfy a National Police Check.About the PositionThe Business Support Officer reports to the Assistant Director, Business Improvement & Support within the Dispute Resolution & Support Services Branch (Branch) of the Fair Work Commission (the Commission).As part of the Business Improvement & Support team, the Business Support Officer will influence and drive a client-focussed service culture in collaboration with other teams across the Branch, and administratively coordinate key Branch activities.This role works collaboratively across the Branch and the Commission to support the achievement of Branch and organisational outcomes. In addition, the Business Support Officer will provide a high level of administrative support to the Executive Director (ED) and Directors of the Branch.The Business Support Officer works in a fast-paced environment and will have strong coordination skills to organise busy schedules, while ensuring timeframes are met and keeping planning, projects, and initiatives on track.Duties
- Develop and maintain an understanding of the Branch’s impact on the Commission’s strategic and operational outcomes.
- Support the Executive Director including diary and travel management, financial reconciliation, preparation and coordination of papers, manage and respond to correspondence, enquiries, and requests, identifying, prioritising, undertaking and coordinating actions appropriately.
- Support learning and development activities and branch communications including drafting Branch-wide communications and information resources, maintaining the Branch SharePoint site and assist with engagement activities including drafting speeches, presentations, and other materials with a focus on plain language.
- Contribute to business improvement and support business planning, delivery of projects and initiatives, and reporting including tracking branch activities such as briefs and actions arising for Commission governance committees, Senate Estimates briefs, data and reports (including the Annual Report).
- Provide secretariat support for meetings, including scheduling, governance and record-keeping, developing agendas, preparing and coordinating papers, taking minutes, drafting and following up actions.
- Build and maintain productive relationships with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders including Commission Members, staff, and senior leaders across the organisation, and foster effective communication channels on behalf of the Executive Director.
- Uphold and promote an inclusive, healthy, and safe working environment, modelling and promoting ethical behaviour and practices consistent with the APS Code of Conduct and Values.
- Work collaboratively and flexibly in support of the objectives of the Branch including by performing other duties when required.
