We are on the lookout for an experienced Soil Technician / Technical Officer to work in our Soils Field team. You will be responsible for primarily completing field testing while providing support to the laboratory team as required in accordance with the Australian Standards and TMR Methods.

The role
Reporting to the Team Leader/Lab Manager, your primary focus will be to carry out hands on testing work on some of the biggest land development projects in Toowoomba and surrounds with the opportunity to travel regionally to service projects in the future.
In this role, you will communicate with our clients to investigate their needs, carry out density testing & level 1 inspection & testing and provide results. You will work in the field and within our laboratory without supervision and will collaborate with our other Soil Techs as needed to ensure accurate and timely results. Working Monday to Friday, we offer flexibility to suit your lifestyle needs, though our standard day starts at 7am.
You will:
• Complete testing within timeframes and in accordance with standards and regulations under Team Leader direction;
• Review equipment check and calibration reports for errors or inconsistencies and identify any non-conformance;
• Conduct field testing and accurately enter results while in the field;
• Supervise and mentor junior team members in the field; and
• Always follow all personal workplace safety and quality assurance guidelines and NATA guidelines.
In order to be successful in this role you will:
• Have experience in a similar role
• Have a strong understanding of soil test methods and requirements
• Hold a minimum Certificate 3 in Laboratory Skills or Construction Material Testing or a willingness to obtain
• Hold a current QLD Nuclear Density Gauge License
• Be experienced in level 1 inspection and testing for bulk earthworks in accordance with AS3798
• Enjoy being out & about performing active and manual work
• Be enthusiastic and motivated to work both unsupervised and as part of a small dynamic team
• Be able to uphold safety standards and company policy
• Hold a current, unrestricted Australian Driver’s Licence
• Hold a Construction Safety ‘white card’
• Be willing to undergo a pre-employment medical assessment
