The Post Office Brewing Pty Ltd owns, and has shareholdings in, a group of companies in the hospitality industry including a craft brewery, a distillery, a brew pub, 3 restaurants and 2 function/event centres in Townsville and on Magnetic Island on the Great Barrier Reef. It is working towards developing a boutique hotel complete with sports activities on the island, and well as redeveloping its existing venues. This will likely include a further restaurant and a beer garden.
We are recruiting for experienced Sous/Deputy Chefs who will be responsible for every kitchen operation including overseeing all cooks and kitchen hands and being ready to hop onto any kitchen station/line as needed. The Sous/Deputy Chefs must also be capable of stepping into the role of the Head Chef should s/he be absent. As such, candidates must have the following attributes:
KEY ATTRIBUTES:
- Have people management skills in providing leadership in the kitchen to ensure team work amongst the kitchen staff as well as inducting and/or training apprentice chefs and cooks.
- Take pride in delivering exemplary dining experience through great flavours and creative plating/presentation of food.
- Culinary passion and creativity to be part of the team in designing and planning menus for all venues.
- Experience in planning, coordinating and managing the catering for large events of up to 240 people.
- Track record of kitchen management with demonstrated experience in kitchen day-to-day operations.
