About the Role

We are seeking a talented and experienced Sous Chef to join our kitchen team at the Red Lion Hotel part of the Laundy Hotel Group. As a Sous Chef, you will work closely with the Head Chef to oversee the daily operations of the kitchen, ensuring the highest standards of food quality, consistency, and efficiency are maintained. This role offers the opportunity to showcase your culinary skills, leadership abilities, and passion for creating memorable dining experiences.

Tasks & Responsibilities

  • Assist the Head Chef in menu planning that is attractive, balanced, and aligned with the restaurant's concept and target audience.
  • Bringing creativity and innovation to the kitchen, developing new recipes, and experimenting with different ingredients and cooking techniques.
  • Supervising dish quality throughout the preparation and serving phases.
  • Lead by example, providing guidance and support to kitchen staff, fostering a positive work environment, and promoting teamwork and collaboration.
  • Conduct regular inspections of food products to ensure freshness, proper storage, and adherence to food safety standards and regulations.
  • Assist in monitoring inventory levels, placing orders for ingredients and supplies, and minimising waste to control costs and maximise profitability.
  • Uphold strict sanitation and hygiene standards in accordance with local health regulations and company policies to ensure a safe and clean working environment.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Relevant trade certification
  • Proven experience in a fast-paced environment for at least 2-3 years
  • Strong knowledge of food preparation techniques
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills
  • Ability to work well within a team and autonomously 
  • Ability to work within a culturally diverse team in a high-pressure environment
