The Assistant Club Coach will work under the guidance of the Performance Centre’s Head Coach to coordinate and deliver the coaching of the swim squads. It is essential that the Assistant Club Coach understand their role within the wider Performance Centre program to prepare and develop swimmers to progress along the performance pathway.
The SNSW Southern Performance Centre Assistant Club Coach will:
- Coordinate and deliver the coaching of the Performance Centre’s squads, under the guidance of the Head Coach.
- Develop athletes in accordance with the technical direction set by the Head Coach.
- Prepare the program’s talented age-group swimmers for podium success at National Championships.
- Provide the Head Coach with regular reports of talent identification and performance identification for swimmers in the Performance Centre and in the local Area.
- Assist with the delivery of services and resources for identified swimmers to enhance performance in the areas of technical, psychological, health and life skills, in consultation with the Head Coach.
- Assist the Head Coach to monitor progression of swimmers through the squad program and work with the Sutherland Leisure Centre’s Learn to Swim program to identify talented swimmers and encourage participation in the squad program.
- Backfill for the Head Coach during periods of leave and / or travel with state and national teams.
- Provide a safe and inclusive environment by embedding best practice coaching techniques and adhering to SNSW and Swimming Australia policies.
- Attend identified competition and professional development opportunities as identified by the Head Coach and the CEO of Swimming NSW and support the delivery of Swimming NSW Performance & Pathways programs and initiatives.
- Develop positive relationships with all program partners, program and Club Coaches, and the local swimming community.
