Job Description
As Spatial Systems Officer you will provide meaningful contribution to the implementation, maintenance, support and ongoing development of Council’s Spatial Information and systems (including Intramaps,QGIS, Mapinfo). You will also work in partnership with personnel across the organisation providing technical support and specialist advice on Council’s GIS, applying creative spatial solutions in complex issues when necessary.
In addition you will also:
- Maintain and update the GIS data to ensure that it is reliable and meets user requirements on a daily basis
- Contribute and support the delivery of projects, including; upgrades of specific applications, delivery of new functionality and process improvements.
- Participate in, and lead as required, a collaborative, innovative and responsive work practice with an interest and a willingness to help people, expand your skill-set and grow within the role.
From the office you can easily walk to Malvern Gardens, High Street Armadale or Glenferrie Road. Malvern and Armadale Train Station are a short walk away and tram stops are out the front of the building. Desired Skills and Experience
To thrive in this role you have:
- Proficiency in facilitating positive and effective professional relationships with a diverse range of clients, internal and external stakeholders.
- Skills related to the Management of property\Parcel data with the ability to process VicMap data updates and submission of new, amended, and incorrect properties in relationship to Council’s GIS
- Investigative and problem-solving skills to identify application problems through root cause analysis and implement preventative and corrective solutions
- Proven experience of SQL Server databases including spatial analysis, data querying and extraction and automation of operational tasks via programming code.
- Strong technical knowledge of the managed products, and extensive experience in providing support to the core applications of Council, including Intramaps, Mapinfo, QGIS, Feature Manipulation Engine (FME).
- Excellent communicative skills with proven ability to multi-task, set and operate within tight schedules, problem-solve and thrive under pressure.
- A tertiary qualification in GIS, Spatial Information, Geomatics or related field, together with relevant experience in spatial environment.
