CDC are seeking Casual Special Needs Transit Carers based out of our Darwin Depot, for an immediate start.
This position is responsible for the care, comfort and safety of Special Needs students while they are travelling on the Special Needs school bus to and from school.
To carry out this task successfully, you will work closely with the Bus Driver to ensure students are picked up and dropped off at their designated pick up/drop off point, whilst maintaining a daily record of the students’ travel including such things as student behaviour, medical issues enroute etc.
The successful candidate must be available to commit to the hours over two split shifts daily, working 2 hours in the morning and 2 hours in the afternoon, school days only (average 20 hours per week). We need someone who can commit to working the full AM / PM shift to ensure continuity for the students.

Qualifications & Experience
- Working with Children (Ochre) card - required
- Current first aid certificate, including CPR - required
- Certificate III in early childhood education and care – desired
- Experience in a care setting for children with Special Needs – desired
A Drug & Alcohol screening along with a pre-employment medical will be required for the successful applicants prior to employment.
