The Role:
A vacancy currently exists in the Mount Isa Mine team for an Operations Specialist - Development. The Development department has a critical role in ensuring that the lateral development targets are achieved to enable key infrastructure and production cycle schedules are met. The Development Specialist must have an in depth understanding of the development mining cycle including ground support, development cycle requirements and a basic understanding of development scheduling.
The Specialist role exists to facilitate the planning, support, and co-ordination of the Development team as well as liaising closely with the other departments to minimise interactions within the operation.
The specialist role works closely with the tech services department to ensure that plans are adequate and deliverable including development memos and rehab plans, and weekly and monthly plans.
Your key responsibilities include:
- Responsible for communicating accurate and relevant information to the scheduling team.
- Responsible for providing plans and support to the Developement team to enable execution of the mine plans.
- Responsible for ensuring the weekly plan aligns with available resources and equipment.
- Responsible for communicating all relevant information to the Development team, including weekly handover information between outgoing and oncoming crews.
- Responsible for tracking monthly department KPI performance, and providing detailed feedback for reconciliation reviews with the scheduling team for weekly and monthly plan compliance.
- Responsible for developing a positive team culture in line with Glencore values including mentoring and coaching to build employee role competency.
- Responsible for completing workplace observations/inspections and logging them in Bsafe (minimum 4 per month).
- Responsible for the auditing of data (e.g. daily and monthly reports, checklists, permits).
- Responsible for making good and timely decisions utilising a mixture of analysis, experience and judgement that keeps the operation moving forward in a safe and production mannor.
- Responsible for the identification and implementation of continuous improvement opportunities.
The successful applicants will have:
- Required - S1, S2, S3 Certificate
- 5+ years underground development mining experience (Including a minimum of 2 years supervisory experience)
- Demonstrated understanding of Underground Development Operations
- Demonstrated knowledge of risk management, safety systems and legislative requirementsfor underground mining
- Experience leading and developing large work teams to deliver business outcomes
- Highly Regarded - Mining Engineering Diploma
- Highly Regarded - Bachelor Degree in Mining Engineering
