About the Role

We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Mining Engineer who can contribute to mine planning in a large, complex, open-cut truck and shovel operation at our Mt Arthur Mine Site in the Hunter Valley Region.
The Specialist Mining Engineer role is a pivotal position within the Mine Planning team at Mt Arthur as you provide safe and efficient designs, schedules and project management to support the operational and functional teams through execution of the mine plan.

Your main responsibilities:

  • Design safe and efficient excavation and dump designs.
  • Develop efficient mine schedules.
  • Manage different projects related to mine planning and interacting with different stakeholders
  • Establish and maintain relationships with different teams throughout Mt Arthur to deliver key schedule and planning objectives.
  • Effectively communicate mine planning and project outputs to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Pursue continuous improvement opportunities throughout your day-to-day work.
  • Complete reconciliations to ensure accuracy in your work.
  • Manage risk through the application of geotechnical controls in both design and scheduling.
About You

You will have a tertiary qualification in Mining/Civil Engineering or Geology with the relevant experience in an open cut mining operation, preferably coal.
Working knowledge of Vulcan, Deswik and/or Spry software is essential.
Due to the nature of this role your people and communication skills are of the upmost. You will be required to liaise, negotiate and influence a range of internal and external stakeholders.
