Our strategy is to focus on creating a safe work environment where our employees feel strongly connected to our values and objectives, and where the capability of our people is key to our success.Come and be a part of this success.About the RoleWe currently have an exciting opportunity for a safety professional to join the Copper South Australia HSE team as a Safety Specialist - Prominent Hill.Reporting to the Safety Superintendent, this roles provide coaching, technical expertise and advice on various aspects of safety and risk management to leaders across site.The Prominent Hill mine is a major copper, silver, and gold mine in northwest South Australia, 130 km south-east of Coober Pedy and 130km north-west of Olympic Dam.In the Safety Specialist role, you will:

  • Analyse safety data and information sources to identify emerging safety trends and recommend safety improvement initiatives.
  • Proactively reach out to site personnel to coach individuals in site safety systems
  • Actively attend various safety routines across site
  • Conduct training sessions across various safety systems.
  • Support investigation quality through maintaining capability in investigation facilitators.
  • Monitor for and support with Safety related operational needs.
  • Support field leadership and safety culture programs
  • Promote and support hazard awareness and identification
  • Implement safety improvement strategies and practices
  • Support the sites Health and Safety Representative Process.
About YouYou will be a self-motivated professional with a solid record or accomplishment of achieving results through influence, coaching and mentoring.To be successful in this role you will have:
  • Previous experience in a safety role.
  • A tertiary qualification, or equivalent industry experience managing safety.
  • Certificate IV in OHS.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with an ability to influence at multiple levels in an organisation.
  • Coaching and mentoring skills with a genuine desire to help people, achieve outcomes and support continuous improvement.
  • Experience with facilitating safety incident investigations.
  • Sound data analytical skills.
  • A current C class motor licence or equivalent Australian state motor vehicle licence.
