About the Role:

The Salvation Army Australia's Family Violence and Youth Streams provide an integrated suite of services to young people and women & children impacted by family and domestic violence. Our services create intentional pathways and opportunities for young people, women and their accompanying children to build support networks, access, participate and contribute to their communities. The Youth and Family Violence Streams offer a diverse range of services including, refuge, children and parenting services, social and community activities, specialist therapeutic responses, youth justice, housing and homelessness, education, training and employment and driver training.

We are seeking 2 x values driven and proactive full time fixed term (18 month contract) Specialist Youth Family Violence Practitionersto join our team. Reporting to the Family Violence Team Leader this role is instrumental in providing responsive assertive outreach to young people between the ages of 16-24 who are experiencing or at risk of experiencing domestic and Family Violence.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Build effective professional relationships with young people that encourage self-determination and participation
  • Provide support and referral to services and community connections that will prevent the experience and use of violence or reduce the risk for escalation of violence for the young person
  • Implement and develop individual case plans in collaboration with the young person while ensuring it includes a range of interventions that address the needs or goals of them
  • Accurate and up to date client records including case notes and dates that are maintained for all clients in accordance with The Salvation Army's policies and procedures
  • Maintain knowledge of relevant sectors through reading of relevant articles and materials

About you:

  • Degree qualification in social work, welfare, community development or related field
  • Demonstrated high level of sector knowledge and skills attained through previous roles, service and study/development
  • Experience in specialist Family Violence and/or child wellbeing and youth services is highly desirable
  • Demonstrated case management experience and skills
  • WWCC and willingness to undergo police clearance as part of the recruitment process
