About Speech To You

• Speech To You offers community and telehealth NDIS Speech Pathology services. 
• Speech To You provides high level, evidence-based speech pathology services to adults above the age of 18 with disabilities who are funded by the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS).
• We cater to all clinical ranges of practice.
• The Speech To You team currently consists of 6 Speech Pathologists and 1 Business Development Manager.
• Speech To You supports acquired conditions e.g. stroke, progressive disease (MND, PD, MS, HD) and developmental conditions e.g. intellectual disability, cerebral palsy, ASD.

Supported Orientation

• Speech To You offers a self-guided step by step orientation guide and an in-person discussion to ensure all your questions are answered. 
• 2x supervised appointments for each participant on your caseload with an experienced Speech Pathologist.
• Set personal short term and long term goals and be supported to achieve these.
• Weekly structured supervision to ensure your work/life balance is achieved whilst ensuring to meet your personal goals.

What Does A Typical Day Look Like?

• Working from the Speech To You office or from home 
• Supporting NDIS participants in the community
• Completing assessments, therapy planning and reports as needed
• Developing resources (e.g. AAC)
• Attending videofluoroscopy's as needed
• Completing professional development 
• Liaising with third parties (e.g. NDIS Support Coordinators, multidisciplinary team)
• Attending mentoring, supervision and/or debriefing with an experienced clinician

What Do I Need To Apply?

• Qualification degree in Speech Pathology
• Valid driver’s license and personal vehicle
• Computer and phone access 

Contracting Rates

• New Graduate (degree only) $65.00 per hour billed PLUS 11% super
  $78,000/year + $8,580 super
• Grade 1 (one year experience) $75.00 per hour billed PLUS 11% super
  $90,000/year + $9,900 super
• Grade 2 (two+ years experience) $85.00 per hour billed PLUS 11% super
  $102,000/year + $11,220 super

  This is based on an average annual income of billing 5.0 hours per day, 5 days per week, over 48 weeks of the year. Speech To You Speech Pathologists typically bill between 4-6 hours/day when seeing 1-3 clients/day.

  Note: Superannuation will increase to 11.5% as of 01 July 2024.

Contractor Vs. Employee

Contractor

• Manage own realistic caseload
• Set own targets
• Create own working days/hours
• Work from preferred location e.g. home or cowork space as desired
• Stable position - you are in control 
• Automatic promotions based on skill and experience level, no need to apply for another position to get that pay rise!
• Schedule leave as you wish - no certificate or hoops to jump through!
• Significantly higher rate
• Withhold own tax (can use to build wealth e.g. offset mortgage, buy shares etc)
• Claim expenses to lower taxable income (e.g. petrol, car registration, car insurance, kilometres travelled, etc.)

Employee

• High caseload expectations
• High unrealistic targets which lead to burn out 
• Set hours required e.g. 38-40+ hours/week 
• Overtime expectations
• Set timed breaks
• Restricted leave requests required in accordance with contract / other team members leave 
• Significantly lower rate with no guarantee of a pay rise unless promotion is advertised with more responsibilities
• Tax withheld on your behalf
• Limited leave entitlements to cover low rate
