Job description
Speech Pathologist Grade 2 or Grade 3.
Ongoing full-time or part-time opportunity.
Be valued, supported and appreciated at work!
We trust you to do your job (even when no one is looking!)
We value true work-life balance & employ great authentic people
We say thank you & have your back when you need it
We’re a growing business, on the lookout for a highly skilled and motivated Speech Pathologist in Ballarat to join our team in an autonomous, but well supported role. In this role, you'll provide quality speech pathology services to a mixed caseload of Allied Therapy Services clients in the Greater Ballarat community.
While you don’t need to have worked in a community-based speech pathology role before, ideally, you have had 2-years on the job experience working live with a neurological condition or physical or cognitive disability or are experiencing age-related changes.
If you are thinking of making the jump from public health, we provide additional onboarding support to therapists who are transitioning from public health into the private sector (see, we have your back!).
Our Ballarat?office and team
We have a beautiful office space in central Ballarat! Pop in for informal office catch ups or to find a quiet space to get your notes done.
Work collaboratively with our team of experienced Speechies, Physios, OTs & Therapy Assistant. We strongly promote knowledge sharing & collaborative practice amongst our teams.
About your new role
As a Speechie at Allied Therapy Services, your day could include:
Starting your day with coffee & emails at home before venturing out to see your first client of the day.
Visiting a client in their home to review progress & help them achieve their goals like, telling a joke to their family, reading a book to their children, or safely eating their favorite home-cooked meal.
Getting out and about in the community. Speech Pathology in the community can be creative and fun! Word retrieval practice at social group trivia, swallowing practice at a local cafe, using assistive technology to order a coffee or social communication practice with a client's friends.
Touching base with your Team Leader for a debrief and chat about your caseload.
Providing education and training to clients, their family and/or carers to help them continue your therapy program in the home.
Calling into the Ballarat office for a cuppa & quiet moment to complete your notes & write any reports.
Jumping online to participate in a client care team meeting.
Attending a joint assessment or therapy session with one of our experienced Physios or OTs.
Working closely with our Therapy Assistant to set up an ongoing regular support program.
Popping into a Teams meeting with our Speech Pathology Clinical Lead and other Speechies across our teams to share learnings and knowledge, ask questions and seek support or share in professional development learnings.
