Position Title: Speech Pathologist - Team Lead
Basis of Employment: Full time
Reports to: Director
Position Summary:
This role’s overall purpose within Australia is to:
1. Provide high quality Speech Pathology services to a broad range of clients with various chronic and complex conditions and /or complex disabilities.
2. Deliver clinical services to clients with the goal of building client capacities and independence.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Ensure the delivery of services meets legislative requirements and any policy and administrative guidelines as set by the Commonwealth.
- Understand and uphold the rights of NDIS participants in line with the NDIS Quality and Safeguarding Framework.
- Demonstrate an empathetic approach and positive attitude to clients.
- Ensure clients have access to timely information/advocacy so that they understand their rights and responsibilities.
- Provide high quality, evidence-based services for all clients consistent with accepted professional and organisational policies and procedures, to assess, diagnose and manage clients with a broad range of communication and swallowing disorders. Service delivery should include but is not limited to assessment and intervention in the following areas:
Speech difficulties
Social interaction difficulties
Stammer
Voice difficulties
AAC prescribing, application and training.
Dysphagia/ swallowing difficulties

KEY SELECTION CRITERIA
To competently perform in this position, the person should possess the following:
- Bachelor of Applied Science in Speech Pathology or equivalent
- Current registration with Speech Pathology Australia
- Current Working with Childrens Check and NDIS Worker Screening Check
- Driver Licence & Car
- Experience delivering Speech Pathology services in a range of settings, including experience in the area of augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) and assistive learning technology.
- A strong commitment to excellence and quality in the provision of speech pathology services with a sound working knowledge of quality principles and accreditation.
- Highly developed leadership skills and the ability to act as a positive role model for our people.
- Strong planning, time management and organisational skills with the ability to priorities accordingly.
- Experience working in a community health provider.
- Experience working within the NDIS.
