Role Details
- Demonstrate a commitment to the vision of St Patrick’s Special School and a willingness to incorporate the ethos of the school into all aspects of their work.
- Provide evidence-based Educational Speech Pathology services to the school including intervention, and consultation within a Multidisciplinary team.
- Collaboratively build the capacity of teachers and school communities to meet the needs of students with communication and learning needs.
- Contribute and actively participate in relevant team-based processes and projects.
- Engage in continuing education and professional development activities relating to Speech Pathology and Education and abiding by Speech Pathology Australia’s Code of Ethics (February 1986).·
- Work in partnership with teachers, families and other therapists to integrate communication strategies and embed the use of Augmentative and Alternative Communication systems in the school, including but not limited to Proloquo, Proloquo2go & PODD communication systems.
- Work in partnership with private therapists to coordinate and develop Oral Eating and Drinking Care Plans.
Desirable:
- Experience in supporting literacy development for individuals with complex communication needs and/or willingness to engage in required professional development to support the implementation of the Comprehensive Literacy approach across the school.
- Experience delivering multi-levelled speech pathology interventions in a school-based setting and/or developing capacity through coaching
Additional InformationThe successful applicant will be required to meet the vaccination requirements in accordance with the CESA COVID-19 Vaccination Policy.
St Patrick's Special School is a high-risk setting where up-to-date vaccination is required.
The successful applicant will be required to undergo our screening processes and hold a current Working with Children Check and completed the 7 hour Responding to Risk Harm Abuse and Neglect training RRHAN
