ANU Sport is an independent incorporated association that delivers sport, fitness and recreation services and opportunities to the ANU Community. ANU Sport is a UniSport Australia and Elite Athlete Friendly University member institution and the ANU is a member of the Group of 8, Australia’s eight leading universities.
We exist to facilitate connections within the campus community through health, well-being and sport. Our aim is to enhance and grow the opportunities for students and the ANU community to engage in sport, fitness, and recreation, promoting well-being and balanced lifestyles. ANU Sport is responsible for the operation and management of the ANU Sport Fitness Centre and all the University sport and recreation facilities, along with supporting over 30 sport and recreation clubs and delivering social and competitive sporting programs.
About the role:
The role of Sport Manager is key in leading and enhancing the organisation of sport activities across the University community. This role will requirement management of full time and causal staff, in addition to frequent engagement of members and participants involved in affiliated Clubs, programs and activities hosted by ANU Sport. The Sport Manager will be an escalation point for all sport related activities and may be required to work out of business hours.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Managing all key deliverables of the Sport Business Unit
- Development and oversight of the sport budget and strategy direction
- Management and development of the Sport Teams’ staff
- Leading the delivery and promotion of social sport and recreation programs
- Responsibility for affiliated club coordination
- Oversee the coordination of the ANU’s representative sports teams and engagement with UniSport Australia activities and Events.
- Oversight of Interhall Sport program and Academic and Residential College fitness and wellbeing programs
- Management and coordination of the Elite Athlete support programs
- Oversee the delivery of the ANU Sports Scholarship Program
- Develop and implement policy and procedures, including oversight of Member Protection management
- Lead inclusion and diversity initiatives and further enhance and implement the associated framework.
- Support the marketing and promotion of events targeting student involvement and achievement
- Manage relationships with sporting associations, ANU Sport Affiliated clubs and student groups
- Be responsible for engaging and enhancing student leadership, involvement, and achievement.
- Other duties as directed.

Our ideal candidate is an experienced Sport Manager with a passion for managing and delivering sports programs. Experience in the tertiary sector would be highly considered. You are someone who wants to work with good people and make a difference. You have a desire to bring your extensive knowledge to bear on a new challenge.
- Proven capacity to manage multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced work environment that covers a wide variety of issues;
- Well-developed organisational and time management skills;
- Strong interpersonal and people management skills;
- A strong background in sport/club management and governance;
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills; and
- Willingness to initiate and implement positive change and to exercise judgement.
