What does the role involve?
The Duty Manager is responsible for leading a team of Team Leaders and freight handler staff to deliver against agreed budget and performance outcomes. You will facilitate the continued improvement of the facility operations by analysing current performance, identifying improvement opportunities, and developing improvement action plans. This role is focussed on delivering continual efficiency improvement at the lowest possible cost in the pursuit of service excellence.
The role of the Duty Manager is to provide clear direction, accountability and collaboration across facility processing teams in alignment with business objectives. Day to day will see you:
- Actively develop and foster a capable support and team network to ensure commitment to facility objectives.
- Ensure that a safety culture is embedded in the facility through Site Safety Compliance Plans, strategies.
- Contribute to the achievement of service performance targets by diving consistent, efficient and effective transport system operations through standardised policies, procedures and core national systems
- Implement the national transport strategies and solutions by incorporating appropriate audit mechanisms to ensure legislative compliance is maintained.
- Manage allocation of appropriate resources and commitment of staff to enable achievement of facility objectives
- Be the topic matter expert in relevant area of responsibility to ensure operational and customer needs are aligned with delivery of high service quality
- Lead change and innovation within teams
- Drive new cultural practices, systems and processes that support desired change
- Manage internal and external stakeholder relationships, including managing customer relationships in collaboration with commercial and customer service teams, as required
- Manage Agent Delivery Partners, to deliver on Express and Premium products in the branch’s geographical areas.
- Manage escalated HR matters appropriately
- Assist and identify opportunities for service and efficiency improvement within the facility.
- Analyse daily facility activities to identify processing control issues
- Use various data mediums to manipulate, analyse, and present data for continual processing improvement
- Maintain high service and financial performance results, supported by effective internal audit arrangements.
- Lead a culture within the function that fosters the One StarTrack approach, focuses on safety and wellbeing, and puts the customer at the forefront of all activities and decisions.
What experience will you have?
We’re looking for candidates that are motivated and able to bring the best out of people under their leadership. In terms of your experience, ideally you will have:
- Experience in a Leadership position, preferably in a Transport Background
- Strong people management skills to develop the current team
- Sound analytical and problem-solving skills
- Influence and Implement change in the business
- Safety focused
- Understanding of optimisation and process improvement
