About the Role…
An exciting opportunity to ’learn and grow’ exists with our Sports Turf Management and grounds team. We are seeking a Sports Turf Management Apprentice either in first year, or new to the trade, to join our experienced and professional Grounds Team. You will be a real go-getter, who is enthusiastic and motivated to maintaining our venue as one of Australia’s best. The contribution that this role makes has the spotlight firmly pointed on it year round.
You will have the opportunity to gain and develop your skills maintaining Sydney Showground Stadium, Tom Wills Oval and Sydney Showground Cricket facilities to international standards and world’s best practice as well as maintaining all other turf, landscape and surrounds of Sydney Showground.
This is a full-time position, working 76 hours per fortnight to an event-based roster. (This includes time to attend courses of study). You will be enrolled in the appropriate course to achieve a Sports Turf Management qualification, and will be expected to do some weekend and evening work, with additional days leading into, during and post Sydney Showground events. Flexibility is essential!
About you…
- Current C Class Driver's Licence or willingness to obtain
- Passion to learn and grow within the industry
- Sound computer skills, particularly in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook
- Proven history of being punctual & reliable
- Have excellent communication & interpersonal skills,
- Have an outstanding work ethic
- Be legally entitled to live & work in Australia
