SCOPE AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Business Development & SalesSr. Manager will work to develop and advance the strategic growth agenda for the ANZ Region, collaborating with the functional leadership. Specifically, the Sr. Manager is responsible for: analyzing and framing growth challenges and opportunities open to Clarios; structuring choices and solutions; leading the start-up approach for select initiatives; and collaborating broadly for the region to measure progress, action, and results.

The Sr. Manager will also have full responsibilities for the Aftermarket Sales for the ANZ Region. This involves developing sound sales strategies for execution and delivering top-line and margin growth targets for overall AFM Sales. In addition, the Sr. Manager will ensure the team to develop a strong sales pipeline and marketing strategies to enhance our endorsed brands position in each market and that they are executed thoroughly into the markets and with our customers to maintain growth and financial success.

Primary Duties

ANZ Business Development:

The Sr. Manager will be called upon to tackle discrete and critical strategic questions facing the region. As part of this work the Sr. Manager can expect to operate individually, leading select teams, supporting select teams. The work will generally require:

  • Assessing and prioritizing key market (including political & economical), customer, competitive and technology dynamics impacting Clarios over mid to long term
  • Evaluating requirements and business models to establish critical success factors
  • Determining Clarios' positioning, gaps, and requirements against these factors
  • Developing actionable strategies and tactics to drive growth
  • Framing the issues, framework and strategic response for Clarios leaders, parent-company representatives, and/or Board of Directors as appropriate
  • Establishing and leading the start-up approach
  • Creating appropriate mechanisms to track progress and impact

Strategy-to-Action Management:

The Sr. Manager will be responsible for driving and shaping development of the 3-5 year business plan. The 3 year business plan will include a range of investments, programs and initiatives that are fundamental to protect base business and drive growth. The Sr. Manager will refresh and expand a process to ensure that this strategy-to-action portfolio provides leadership with appropriate visibility, status, impact, and opportunity for course-corrections. The Sr. Manager will also ensure that this portfolio is aligned with the region capital and/or operating expense plan.

Corporate Development & Key Strategic Relationships:

  • Develop preliminary analyses and/or assess analysis from markets of strategic fit and opportunity
  • Participate in corporate development visits, discussions and negotiations

ANZ After Market Sales:

The Sr. Manager will develop and execute strategic sales plans to drive top-line and bottom-line growth. The work will involve:

  • Managing the sales performance results within the financial expectations of the business including cashflow, EBITDA, pricing and sales revenue
  • Developing sales strategies and tactics for execution in the various markets to ensure success
  • Managing customer expectations and outcomes, along with holding key relationships with major accounts
  • Ensuring the team has pipeline and business growth opportunities with new and existing customers
  • Maintaining strong and highly functioning teams and ensuring the right resource are allocated accordingly to support the business growth
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure strong alignment for business growth, brand enhancement and category/segment management
  • Providing timely and relevant information to enable smooth and efficient operation based on the sales function inputs

EXPERIENCE & Skills REQUIRED:

The successful candidate will have 10 to 15 years of progressive experience in strategic planning, sales, marketing, Business Development, new ventures, general management, or financial planning.

Proven ability to foresee trends and issues in large scale transformation projects

A significant portion of the candidate's experience should be in automotive, battery or related industries.

Additional experience will include:

  • Proven ability to constructively engage the senior management team in brainstorming and evaluating potential growth ideas, formally and informally
  • Demonstrated success in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with senior customers, industry consultants and industrial representatives
  • Experience working in both direct and matrix management environments
  • Experience in optimizing core businesses while developing growth strategies
  • Proven leadership ability and experience in promoting concepts and getting others to internalize their ideas

The successful candidate will be a highly intelligent, energetic, self-confident leader. This position requires an executive with a natural intellectual curiosity and outstanding analytical capacity and intuition to grasp the nuances of emerging and converging markets and technologies and their impact on Clarios.

He/she will have a proven track record of success in a collaborative and participative management environment

He/she will be able to motivate, engage and energize the team, but also comfortable of be a good team player when needed.

Being assertive, inspiring, perceptive, decisive, and results-oriented are critical to the success of the chosen candidate.

This individual will have the ability to challenge the expectations of the Battery business to think "outside the box."

He/she will have excellent business sense / judgment, sound executive presence and the ability to influence and facilitate activities globally.

The successful candidate will possess the ability to instill a sense of confidence and credibility with both internal/external constituencies.

EDUCATION:

Bachelor's degree required

Advanced degree preferred: MBA or Masters degree in a relevant field
