Staff Specialist in Rehabilitation Medicine
John Hunter Hospital
Permanent part time 0.5 FTE (20 hours per week)
This role will provide consultancy level clinical and related service delivery in co-ordination with other Consultants in Rehabilitation Medicine, Medical & Interventional Services at John Hunter Hospital, to deliver ongoing high quality specialised rehabilitation services.
This is an opportunity to work for the largest local health district in NSW servicing a population of 900,000+ across the Hunter, New England and Lower Mid North Coast areas. John Hunter Hospital is a Level 6, tertiary referral, major trauma and teaching hospital and is the largest hospital in Hunter New England Local Health District with approximately 650 beds and growing and we have strong, innovative connections with Hunter Medical Research Institute and University of Newcastle.
Our ideal candidate:
- A primary medical degree registered with AHPRA and Fellowship of the Australasian Faculty of Rehabilitation Medicine of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians [FAFRM (RACP)] or within three (3) months of completion of Fellowship.
- Demonstrated recent and comprehensive experience in Rehabilitation Medicine, including Rehabilitation Medicine skills in clinical service delivery including rehabilitation goals and management plans (including transition to the community) for a broadly based patient case mix
- Be able to delivery of programs for general rehabilitation as well as some specialist programs including traumatic brain injury, amputations, spinal cord impairment and stroke
- Will have knowledge and application of Functional Independence Measure (FIM) / Australian Rehabilitation Outcomes Centre (AROC) data collection and usage
