Job description

The Royal Hobart Hospital and Department of Rheumatology is seeking interest from suitably qualified applicants for a Staff Specialist - Rheumatology vacancy.The successful applicant will provide a consulting role in Rheumatology and deliver inpatient and outpatient care to public and private patients of the Royal Hobart Hospital (RHH), be involved in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching, and be actively involved in research. They will also undertake quality improvement activities.Who are we?Royal Hobart Hospital is Tasmania's largest hospital and major referral centre. Our isolation helps drive a culture of creation and human connection, which feels both old fashioned and… like the only future worth pursuing.SalaryMedical Practitioners (Public Sector) AwardA remuneration package comprising the Agreement base salary, relevant allowances and other entitlements will be negotiated with the successful applicant dependent on clinical experience and seniority.Base salary points range for Specialist Medical Practitioner Level 1 at $210,000 through to Specialist Medical Practitioner Level 11 at $288,000 with further salary increments available.
  • Please note that access to the Senior Specialist Medical Practitioner salary range $291,472 - $301,349 is subject to the successful applicant satisfying the criteria for Senior Specialist Medical Practitioner Level 1, 2 or 3 as outlined in the Medical Practitioners (Tasmanian State Service) Award
In addition, the following allowances calculated on the salaried incremental point may be available:
  • Allowance in lieu of motor vehicle currently set at $27,535 pro rata per annum, paid fortnightly (with CPI indexation on 1 July each year).
  • Continuing Professional Development Allowance of $16,000 pro rata per annum.
  • Relocation allowance.
  • On call allowance % of Base Salary.
  • All other allowances as per current Award.
  • And subject to approval from the Private Patient Scheme Committee (PPS), 35% of Base salary plus on-call, pro rata) of additional payment will be paid from (PPS). If not admitted to the PPS, a 35% in lieu of PPS of base salary will be paid.
Other Benefits:
  • You will have access to salary package a range of benefits including living expenses up to $9,010 + $2,650 in meal entertainment each FBT year + other benefits if eligible.
  • You will also have access to accommodation and relocation costs.
Details of AppointmentPermanent, part-time day work (with on call), working 53.2 hours per fortnight commencing July 2024Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full time and part time vacancies.Essential Requirements
  • Specialist or limited registration with the Medical Board of Australia in a relevant specialty
