Job description

Summary:

The State Manager will be responsible for the leadership, management and administration of the Victorian State team in both Sales and Logistics. They will manage and develop new and existing business opportunities whilst helping develop the Compass brand and the products we offer. This will be done through building long-term sustainable relationships with new and existing business partners and managing the day to day performance of the team within the different sales and logistic channels. You will have overall responsibility for all the entire Victorian sales and logistics team and their performance.

Responsibilities:

  • Responsibility for the sales strategy for the state of Victoria, working with the Director of Sales and the COO.
  • Day to day responsibility for the main sales channels, the revenues for these channels and the staff that operate within these channels.
  • Providing guidance, training and support to your team to maximize retention and revenue.
  • Work with the sales team to establish leads, growing opportunities and developing and closing further business.
  • Analysis of sales numbers, exploring areas of weakness, analyzing trends and exploiting growth areas through the analysis along with forecasting monthly, quarterly, and yearly performance and future growth.
  • Manage Logistics and the Victorian Compass Branch network that facilitate the execution of the Compass service ensuring efficient execution and use of resources to deliver on our Partner and Client’s needs.
  • Responsible to help drive revenue through successful leadership, action plans, customer service, and outstanding execution of all operational strategies, consistently across the Victorian footprint.
  • Drive end to end business efficiencies by ensuring strategic and innovative planning techniques are identified and implemented.
  • Manage and understand location needs by effectively using sales /hire reports and assessing departmental results, to create specific actions directly related to business development and growth, consistently across all allocated locations
  • Manage the State P&L ensuring maximization of profitability.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Minimum of five years in senior sales and/or logistics management
  • Show an ability and demonstrable results to effectively manage a team across a broad spectrum of business and geographic locations.
  • Experience in process improvement and driving efficiencies.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills
  • Knowledge of sales and business development principals as you will often be the first port of call for your team when attempting to develop business opportunities.
  • Excellent project/time management skills, including the ability to prioritize work, meet deadlines and work under pressure.
  • You will be able to produce high quality written communications and are confident and convincing in your verbal communication style.
  • You are required to analyze results using various MIS tools and convert into reporting and action plans to drive your business.
  • Ability to build and maintain positive relationships with clients and stakeholders.
  • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills.
