About the role
We are looking for a Statewide Development Manager to lead our team of Development Specialists responsible for maximising fundraising opportunities, community engagement and awareness of Cancer Council Queensland’s mission across the state.
Under your leadership, development initiatives will result in quality funding streams and partnership opportunities to support the delivery of Cancer Council Queensland’s Navigating Cancer Together strategy, including regional priorities.
With support and oversight from the Senior Manager, Strategic Partnerships, you will lead the Development team to deliver key revenue and engagement strategies, servicing five core activity pillars within the Revenue and Engagement unit: Philanthropy, Corporate Investment, Campaigns and Events, Community Engagement and Local Area Marketing in each region.
Your team of eight Development Specialists are hybrid workers, each stationed in one of Cancer Council Queensland’s priority regions, aligned to our critical hub, transport and/or accommodation client services - Townsville, Cairns, Central Queensland, Wide Bay Burnett: Bundaberg & Fraser Coast, South West Qld: Toowoomba and surrounds, Sunshine Coast & South Burnett, Gold Coast, Brisbane metro.
You will be experienced in people management across fundraising, marketing, business development and/or community engagement with a minimum of four years’ experience in similar environments. You will understand how to motivate a team to deliver high quality relationship management that is led by mission, and you will be proficient in budgeting and forecasting, strategy development, risk, quality and compliance, and stakeholder liaison.

About you
Qualifications, Experience, Knowledge and Skills
Essential
- At least four years’ demonstrated leadership experience in managing and implementing fundraising, marketing, and/or business development programs for revenue and engagement growth.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to develop and implement programs across multiple channels, and the ability to tailor communication materials for different audiences.
- Excellent organisational skills, with the ability to drive concurrent projects and schedule and communicate across a variety of stakeholders.
- Excellent operational skills, with abilities in budgeting, risk management, compliance and strategic planning and reporting.
- Experience managing teams and a commitment to strengthening the capacity of regional teams to provide effective support to staff and partners possessing a range of skills and experience.
- Experience in a similar role in a for purpose organisation in Australia.
- Relevant higher education degree
