About the Role:The STEM Educator is a leading role, managing the development and delivery of innovative STEM education programs and professional development, in collaboration with partner schools, teachers, industry, community and educational institutions, to promote innovation in the development of programs and learning resources. You will be responsible for championing excellence in learning, utilising a range of evidence-based pedagogies and leading technologies and supporting in onsite delivery of programs, coordinating bookings and staffing requirements for successful delivery of programs.
The incumbent will model best practice in STEM education, as well as evaluate learning and teaching. They will promote innovation in the development of new programs and learning materials and collaborate with key stakeholders and staff to progress Tech School’s strategic objectives and vision. This role leads the Teacher Ambassador Network, providing professional learning and creating connections for teachers, including leading Design to Innovate program in partnership with Department of Education and Training, and supporting the Head of Programs – Tech School to establish a Community of Practice for teachers from partner schools to embed inquiry into secondary schools curriculum.
Duties:- Design, develop and document leading-edge, technology-rich, STEM based programs, and associated learning resources, aligned with the Victorian Curriculum, that support the strategic plan and vision of the Tech School. This includes coordination of design, documentation and evaluation of innovative learning programs using emerging technologies linked to local industries.
- Lead facilitation of STEM programs for students – onsite, in partner schools, and in virtual and blended learning spaces.
- Work collaboratively with Tech School staff and key stakeholders in the development of learning materials for a wide range of STEM programs.
- Contribute to the planning, review and reporting processes of the Tech School and Melbourne Polytechnic.
- Support the development and design of teacher professional development programs for staff, partner schools, community, and industry.
- Support the development of a community of practice for secondary school teachers that transforms practice to build teacher capability and confidence in STEM programs, and integration and delivery of Tech School programs.
- Undertake administrative duties to ensure best quality of support and the effective functioning of the Tech School.
- Contribute to the development of communications, including social media, newsletters, research articles, presentations, public events, etc.

Skills and Experience Required:- An appropriate graduate qualification in education.
- Registered VIT qualification or the ability to undertake registration.
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in the development and design of STEAM-based programs, utilising innovative thinking and approaches within a continual improvement context.
- Demonstrated knowledge of contemporary learning and teaching practices and learning design, including design thinking and/or entrepreneurial methodologies.
- Experience in the creation of exemplar learning programs and resources aligned with the Victorian Curriculum for teachers and students.
- Experience in leading high-quality professional learning for a range of stakeholders.
- Demonstrated ability to build and maintain positive relationships with a range of stakeholders.
- Well developed communication and interpersonal skills, with excellent written and verbal communication ability.
- High level of organisational skills, with demonstrated ability to work independently as well as an effective member of a team.
- Demonstrated experience in conceptual and analytical ability, and strong skills in problem solving and project management.
