About the role:
The Stepping Stones Life Coach will work with young people to offer support and development in independent living skills across the five domains of housing support, health and wellbeing, social inclusion, education and employment and complementary services.
The Stepping Stones Life Coach will work with up to three young people aged 15.9 to 18 years of age within the Stepping Stones Village, and three young people within residential care homes preparing them for transition into the Stepping Stones Village. They will also facilitate group events for the young people within the program, including workshops that aim at improving the aforementioned domains.
Position Objectives:
- Provide support and guidance across the domains of housing support, health and wellbeing, social inclusion, education and employment and complementary services for young people in the Stepping Stones Village and residing in Junction Support Service’s residential care homes.
- Provide effective case coordination through the young people’s journey through the Stepping Stones Village.
- Assist in establishing and strengthening connections between the young people and internal stakeholders, external stakeholders and other supports to achieve the goals of the young people.
- To provide individualised engagement which is tailored to the young person’s needs and aspirations, aligned to Junction’s model of care.
- To identify and support the age-appropriate development of life skills and facilitate links to support for future independent living options.
Selection Criteria:
- A relevant tertiary qualification in Youth Work, Social Work, Community Development, Community Services and/or other related fields.
- Demonstrated ability to provide support to high-risk young people.
- Demonstrated knowledge of working with young people who have a lived experience of trauma, violence and neglect.
- Highly developed communication, networking and interpersonal skills, including the ability to liaise effectively with a wide range of people within the education community and youth services sector.
