About theRole
Behaviour Support Educators provide proactive, preventative, andtargeted services to assist sites to meet the needs of children andyoung people with additional needs. This includes support andinterventions for individual children and young people, groups,classes and whole of preschool and school; as well as consultationwith education staff, families, and other professionals to improvepreschool and school-wide practices and policies. They promote arestorative approach to behaviour development and explore thepurpose of behaviour to understand precipitating factors.
The Behaviour Support Educators apply evidence-informedinterventions in a range of contexts that support the promotion ofsocially acceptable and positive behaviour and prevent, reduce, orredirect unsafe and/or unproductive behaviours. They work toimprove families’ and preschools and schools’understanding of behaviour and to develop their capabilities toprovide consistent, fair and equitable responses to behaviour thatfoster trust.
Qualifications
Essential: Current fullteacher registration or able to be registered to teach in SouthAustralia.
SpecialConditions
Thesuccessful applicant is required to gain a Department for HumanServices (DHS) working with children check (WWCC) prior to beingemployed which is required to be renewed every five years beforeexpiry. The incumbent will be required to undertake RRHAN –EC(Responding to Risks of Harm, Abuse and Neglect - Education Care)Facilitator Lead (Masterclass) extended course or the online(Fundamentals) course which will be required to be updated everythree years.

Remuneration
STL2:$126,217 per annum plus superannuation.
