The Role:This is a fixed TermPart Time position, 32.00 hours per fortnight for 12 months.The Stomal Therapist Clinical Nurse Consultant (CNC), is a senior member of the nursing division, coordinating the management of Stomal care, wound and continence care within the RCH and supporting the Colorectal and Pelvic Reconstruction Service (Stomal Therapists when required with conditions related to Ano- rectal malformation (ARM), Hirschsprung's disease and Chronic constipation.)Role Purpose:The purpose of this role is to ensure that a comprehensive, multi-disciplinary and coordinated service is provided to children with stomas/wounds and continence conditions and their families whilst actively working to transition children to adult services. The CNC provides education and support to other team members, nursing, medical and allied health professionals within the RCH and a focus on providing support and capacity building in schools in relation to this group.The Stomal Therapist CNC will also need to meet the DET KPI in relation to providing education and support to schools and early learning centresKey Selection Criteria:
  • Evidence of sound knowledge of stomas/wound and continence management
  • Exemplary professional manner in liaising with the campus community and broader Victorian community
  • Evidence of an interest in research and presentation at departmental meetings or other appropriate forums
  • Demonstrate an understanding of the professional responsibility that accompanies the position
  • Demonstrate an enthusiastic and flexible approach when dealing with competing and conflicting priorities
  • Understand the need for prioritising tasks and demonstrate a professional demeanour and efficient time management
  • Be respectful of the needs of patients and families
  • Possess excellent communication skills (E.g. demonstrated ability to build and maintain working relationships with key internal and external stakeholders.)
