Our client is a leading Northern Suburb. We are currently looking for a senior Environmental Professional to join their Sustainability&Waste team as a Strategic Project Officer.
Your new role
• Coordinating and contributing to the development and implementation of key Strategic Projects for the Waste and Sustainability Department, under the guidance of the Manager, including strategies, policies, programs, reports, projects, and events, to support the achievement of identified departmental and/or team objectives.
• Providing high level administrative support to the Manager Waste and Sustainability that assists to achieve Department outcomes.
• Partnering with the Waste and Sustainability leadership team to implement Department initiatives and projects, as required.
• Providing sound judgement, diplomacy, and understanding of Council issues in relation to the Waste and Sustainability portfolio.
• Exercising discretion and judgement when dealing with sensitive and confidential information.
• Developing and adapting procedures and processes to support strategic and policy priorities.
• Providing advice to the Manager Waste and Sustainability to facilitate project planning and achieving objectives.
• Identifying and assessing issues and providing advice on appropriate solutions.
• Applying problem solving skills, initiative and sound judgement regarding the Department’s objectives, policies, programs, and projects. Guidance and advice is usually available.
• Maintaining a high-level understanding of key internal or external issues that could impact the Waste and Sustainability Department, including implications arising from changes to legislation, regulation, policies, and strategies, ensuring the Manager Waste and Sustainability is aware of key risks or opportunities.
What you'll need to succeed
• Relevant degree or diploma in and experience in Waste and Sustainability planning and policy, project management, local government, business administration
• Experience in effectively interacting with senior management and external stakeholders.
• Experience in providing professional advisory, research, and executive support within a complex organisation.
• Current Driver's Licence.
• High level data analysis skills, with proven ability to identify, analyse and interpret trends and patterns within complex data.
• Provision of efficient, effective and compliant administrative support to the Manager Waste and Sustainability and relevant Coordinators.
• Sound understanding of the Waste and Sustainability sector and the long-term goals of the Council in relation to the Waste and Sustainability Department.
• Demonstrated experience in developing, influencing, and implementing public policy and strategies.
