Job description

Why chose Federal Group as your next employer?

Tasmania's Federal Group was founded on the desire to continue and elevate the sense of community our industry of hospitality and tourism breeds, building hospitality venues that earn their place in our hearts. We encourage our employees to bring their ambition and passion to work (all 2,400 of them), and this reflects in the unique energy of our venues.

We seek excellence in all our businesses. We believe it's our duty to continually push the definition of quality in the experiences we provide. This means we're never satisfied, and we're always restless to do better. It means doing the right thing, even if it is the harder thing, because it will ultimately create a better experience for our customers.

Because we appreciate and value the passion and dedication our people bring to work each day we provide a wonderful host of staff benefits including complimentary parking, staff meals each day and generous discounts across our hotels, restaurants and bars. If you bring ambition with you each day and want to continue developing your career, we also offer a range of professional development including leadership programs and support your additional learning and external interests.

What does this role involve?

Federal Group are seeking an experienced strategy and performance analyst to join the Chief Operations Officer and their team, based at Wrest Point in Hobart. This role will partner with stakeholders across our management teams to define and address the most critical strategic and operating opportunities of the Group.

The role will understand the business strategy and key initiatives that will drive future value.  It will also understand the key drivers of operating performance with a view of opportunity for revenue growth and cost management. In this role you will

  • Extract, interrogate, and cleanse data from primary and secondary sources using automated tools.
  • Prepare concise reports (PowerPoint) for the board, management, stating trends, patterns, and predictions using relevant data and suggested strategy.
  • Build positive relationship and collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and consult on improvement opportunities.
  • Draw logical connections from data analytics to identify, model and qualify improvement opportunities.
  • Build, maintain and analyse dashboards tracking performance across key strategic initiatives and operational data.  In addition, you will be responsible for ad hoc reports to aggregate data across multiple sources using data visualisation tools.

What will you bring to the team?

The ideal candidate will be ambitious, self-directed, creative, strategic thinking and resourceful. You’ll be passionate about your role as part of the larger organisation and bringing the Group’s values to life. The Analyst we need is a critical thinker, seeking a diverse environment and is comfortable working on complex and ranging problems that are critical to the long-term success of Federal Group and its brands. You’ll love unpacking data but equally enjoy finding insights and solutions to the trends and information the data analysis provides.

Ideally, you’ll bring to work every day:

  • A relentless work ethic and high energy level
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Exhibit an exceptional attention to detail and solutions focus
  • Be calm under pressure with a demonstrated track record of successfully managing multiple projects simultaneously
  • Be described as intellectually curious and bring a fresh approach to analytics
  • Demonstrated experience in analytics, projects or consulting and ideally qualifications with a major in Business, Economics, or Finance
