The Role:
As a Structural Steel Estimator at Samaras Structural Engineers, you will work within an established team and report into the Director of New Business & Strategy. The position of Structural Steel Estimator is an integral part of our business and will see you work closely with the management team to deliver timely written quotations and convert tenders into new projects.
Key responsibilities:
- Ability to read and interpret workshop drawings
- Estimating and costing all material, labour, plant, and equipment to carry out Structural Steel works for any particular project
- Preparing take-off quantities of Structural Steel and material lists from engineer’s drawings supplied by client
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Pricing of variations by reviewing construction engineers’ drawings and comparing them to tender engineer’s drawings, and identifying differences in pricing
- Ability to interpret/analyse tender documentation, structural and architectural drawings
Key Requirements:
- Exceptional time management skills
- A high level of computer proficiency including Microsoft Excel and the ability to quickly learn other internal programs
- Demonstrated capability and experience in a similar role
- A “can do” attitude
