Our client is an electrical contracting business geared to support major infrastructure in some of Australia’s fastest-growing communities. Their services include electrical design and construction; sub-stations, relocating existing electricity network assets; connecting new developments; embedded networks; communication networks; street lighting; and the supply of transformers.
THE ROLE
The Project Manager is their leader responsible for solving problems for their customers by delivering project scopes on energy and utilities projects while driving Opportunity and Risk Management Framework and helping their people to realise their potential. Initially focussed on 132kV Substation Projects; there is significant opportunity to grow through the variety of infrastructure that they deliver.
Key deliverables of the role include:
- Work with customers, understand their problems and create opportunities to help
- Be an active leader of safety, engage all stakeholders in working together to make sure the work is done well and done safely
- Identify project risks, select & implement controls including the development of a project Health Safety Environment & Quality Management Plan and other project documentation including project programmes and inspection & test plans
- Ensure the commercial success of each project by managing customer and subcontractor contracts, understanding of the commercial obligations, maintaining great relationships with customers and suppliers, and applying discipline in adhering to commercial controls including the management of variations and time extensions
- Coordinate resources and ensure that there are the right number of suitably skilled people working on your projects including internal and external teams and people from multiple disciplines including various electrical roles, civil teams, non-electrical utilities, construction and design teams
- Inspire, coach and mentor your team & subcontractor partners to grow & realise their potential
- Meet compliance obligations including customer, asset owner, government and other stakeholder polies and regulations are observed
- Support sales in tender submissions, making introductions and maintaining relationships
ABOUT YOU
- Demonstrable experience leading safety and quality while delivering $1m to $10m utilities projects including site management and coordination
- Potentially Electrical Engineer or Civil Engineer
- Able to read and understand construction documents for example drawings, specifications, and contracts
- Tertiary and/or trade qualification
- High proficiency in the use of Microsoft suite of applications
