Suitability Information Officer

Administrative Services Officer Class 4

Salary Range: $81,743 - $88,213 (PN: 63632)

Child and Youth Protection Services currently have a vacancy for a Suitability Information Officer to join the team. The Suitability Information Officer is responsible for providing high level administration support to Child and Youth Protection Services in the effective management of Suitability Information. The position has a key role in assisting the team in identifying, collating and preparing Child Protection and other information consistent with Section 65 of the Children and Young People Act 2008 (CYP Act) for the purposes of carer assessments and approvals.

The role will also assist with monitoring compliance of carer authorisations and WWVP registration and exemptions. The role will be required to work closely with CYPS staff and out of home care agencies to provide timely information on carer suitability to enable effective placement decisions. The role will also assist CYPS to improve and strengthen policy and practice relating to carer assessments and approvals to meet our statutory obligation.

Eligibility/ Other Requirements: 

  • Demonstrated experience in working with client management systems, customer service and record keeping is essential for this role.
  • This position requires a Working with Vulnerable People Check. Prior to commencing in this role, a current registration issued under the Working with Vulnerable People (Background Checking) Act 2011 will be required. For further information on Working with Vulnerable people registrations, refer to Access Canberra.
  • Prior to commencement, the successful candidate will be required to undergo a pre-employment National Police Check.
  • Experience and/or a desire to work in a community services environment is essential.
  • Driver’s license (C class) is essential.
  • The successful candidate will work in accordance with and uphold the ACT Public Service Values and Signature Behaviours, ACT Government’s Respect, Equity and Diversity Framework and the Directorate’s Work Health and Safety System.

Note: This is a temporary position available immediately for a period of six months with the possibility of extension and/or permanency. A merit pool may be established from this selection process and will be used to fill vacancies over the next 12 months. Selection may be based on application and referee reports only.
