The Project

Located in the small suburb of Loxford in the Hunter Valley region of New South Wales, approximately three km north of the town of Kurri Kurri, and approximately 35 km west of Newcastle and 125 km north of Sydney.

The Hunter Power Station Project will generate 660 megawatts via two heavy-duty open cycle gas turbines, and is anticipated to be fully operational by the end of December 2024.

The Opportunity:

UGL Utilities division is seeking an experienced Commissioning Engineer with I&C background for a major Power Station project.

What will a day in this role look like:

  • Interface with multiple Subcontractors and Suppliers
  • Interface with Client Representatives
  • Assist with the construction / design issue resolution and quality control ensuring the electrical installation is in accordance with overall installation design philosophy.
  • Assist with preparation of Commissioning Program to identify all commissioning activities to be completed as part of the project

What are we looking for you to bring to the team:

  • 10 years' experience in commissioning of Electrical and Instrumentation equipment utilized in large Gas Turbine and BOP Systems found in Power Stations.
  • Experience in commissioning of DC / AC ancillary systems including UPS's, Battery Chargers, dc/dc converters, inverters,
  • Strong background in hardwired circuit commissioning, fault tracing and rectification.
  • Teamwork and attention to detail
