We are now seeking an experienced Fixed Plant Electrical Maintenance Supervisor to join our Maintenance team at the Tropicana Gold Mine.
Accountable to the Fixed Plant Maintenance Superintendent, the purpose of this role is to provide electrical services for designated fixed plant and infrastructure across the mine site to ensure the reliable, efficient and sustainable run time. This role is based on a FIFO 8/6 roster from Perth or Kalgoorlie.
Accountabilities:
- Making sure that the installation, maintenance, and testing of electrical equipment are supervised efficiently.
- Being accountable to the site senior executive for the safe operation of electrical equipment at the mine.
- Ensuring that all work related to electrical equipment and installations at the mine is adequately supervised.
- Making certain that electrical equipment and installations at the mine are installed and tested in accordance with the Act and maintained in a safe working condition.
- Halting the use of any electrical equipment or installation at the mine that is considered unsafe.
- Informing the site senior executive about any situation that may impact the safe use of electricity or violate the Act.
- Investigating and reporting details of the following incidents to the site senior executive:
(ii) Any fire suspected to be caused by electricity.
(iii) Any dangerous occurrence involving electricity that could have caused injury to a person.
- Keeping the electrical log book for the mine under regulation 641C up to date with information about matters and incidents.
- Implement and enforce safety procedures to prevent accidents and ensure the well-being of workers.
- Conduct regular safety inspections and audits to identify and address potential hazards.
- Develop and implement efficient work management processes to optimise productivity and ensure timely completion of Electrical Maintenance works.
- Ensure all direct reports (including contractors) are supervised, trained and developed to their full potential in a manner consistent with the company's vision, philosophy and business objectives.
- Monitor expenditures to ensure they align with approved budgets and take proactive measures to address any deviations.
- Liaise closely with metallurgical and maintenance personnel on safety, plant performance and technical issues to optimise plant performance, increasing ease of operation and eliminating existing and potential hazards and problems.
- Assess labour requirements to meet changing demands and arrange extra staff as required using the company procedure.

- Hold an electrical engineering qualification or an electrical worker's licence endorsed “electrician” or “electrical mechanic” issued under the Electricity (Licensing) Regulations 1991
- Have a minimum of 2-years relevant experience of electrical work in mining or other heavy industry.
- Be in a position to be appointed under Schedule 26 cl.5 and 26 cl.3
- Successfully completes an approved WHS risk management unit for electrical supervisors
- Currently hold or able to hold the position of Electrical Nominee registered with the Electrical Licensing Board.
- Certificate IV in Engineering (Instrumentation)
- High Voltage Switching Operator's competency
- Extensive industry experience required in the maintenance of mineral processing or heavy industrial plants.
- Experience in a supervisory role of a multi-faceted team of tradespeople.
- Experience with maintenance planning/scheduling software.
- A high degree of literacy is essential.
- Existing and ongoing Permanent Australian working rights (Mandatory)
- WA Driver's Licence
