We have an opportunity for experienced Supervisor to join our team based in Mackay, QLD.

Work structure: 

FIFO, 8:6 roster, day shift and night shift.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead machine operator teams ranging up to 25 people.
  • Identify potential people for promotions or future leadership roles and provide them learning opportunities and coaching for the next level.
  • Train new employees in company policies and processes regarding equipment operations and safety procedures.
  • Establish and maintain an inclusive and diverse culture that provides a positive employee experience and retention of skilled people.
  • Maintain equipment in peak operating performance.
  • Monitor crews to drive consistent compliance and ensure that they are following company procedures regarding safety and machine operations.
  • Reviews and analyses production, quality control, maintenance, and operational reports to determine causes of nonconformity with product specifications.
  • Implement operating methods and procedures designed to eliminate operating problems and improve product quality and provide input on improvements.
  • Consistently meet or exceed performance goals.
  • Support Fleet Operations leadership in the delivery of financial results for assigned machines in accordance with budget, specifically, labor, material, travel, overhaul and improvement projects.
  • Assist in developing and documenting project plans for overhaul projects and miscellaneous field projects, including collaborating with the Manager on key repair or replace decisions.
  • Responsible for material purchasing and auditing of assigned machine inventory to ensure authorised levels are maintained.
  • Ensure correct licenses are held for each person on site who is operating equipment that needs a license and schedules inductions as required.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key contacts on customer railroads, to manage service and quality expectations, maximise track access and production and, if necessary, handle disputes prior to escalation.
  • Consult with Assistant Manager, Rail Grinding and other stakeholders regarding modification of machines and equipment to improve production and quality of products. 
  • Ability to read, write, and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and production manuals. 
  • Ability to effectively communicate with customers and employees while focusing on key points. 
  • Checks crew understanding and ensures they are clear on instructions and expectations.

About you: 

Along with your commitment to excellence in health and safety, you will also be: 

  • Mechanical or Electrical trade qualified
  • Extensively knowledgeable of maintenance and servicing in a rail environment. 
  • Experienced in leading teams, with exceptional communication and ability to coach, develop, and mentor employees to drive engagement and capability.
  • Substantial knowledgeable of trackside safety standards, rules, and procedures.
  • Hold a valid driver’s licence, truck licence preferred.
