Mackay Regional Council has an opportunity to lead our Paget based Civil Operations team as the Supervisor Roads & Drainage.

In this role, you will take a lead role in the planning, coordinating, and supervising the maintenance, rehabilitation and upgrade of roads and drainage infrastructure including the restoration of natural disaster damage, inspections of Council’s roads and drainage and compile defect lists as required.
You will be an effective leader of approximately 18 staff including 2 leading hands whilst proactively contributing to continuous improvement in work practices, outputs, and client service.
Additional responsibilities in this role include, but not be limited to:
- Facilitate timely repair and daily maintenance of plant resources.
- Monitoring and controlling expenditure on assigned maintenance programmes and projects.
- Assistance with natural disaster/flood damage emergency response, recovery and restoration including inspections, assessment, and cost estimates.
- Taking a lead role in recruiting and training of an efficient and productive workforce, including the management of personnel in a timely, sensitive, and professional manner
- Working cooperatively with Workplace Health & Safety team
- Participate in an on-call roster on a rotational basis for emergency after hours work.
- Ability and willingness to work flexible hours to meet the requirements of the position.
Essential Qualifications, Experience & Skills:
- Experience in roads and drainage maintenance and/or construction fields including in a senior supervisory role.
- Current Qld Manual Car ‘C’ Class Driver Licence
- Current General Construction Safety White Card
- Certificate III in Civil Construction
- Certificate IV in Civil Construction (or willingness to obtain)
- Current Traffic Controllers Ticket
- Highly developed skills in problem solving, client service, leadership, and teamwork.
