Position Overview: We are seeking compassionate and dedicated Disability Support Workers to join our team. As a Disability Support Worker, you will provide person-centered support to individuals with disabilities, assisting them with daily activities, promoting their well-being, and fostering their independence. Your role will involve working closely with clients, their families, and other professionals to ensure the highest quality of care and support.
Must have availability to work some early starts/ late finishes as well as occasional weekends
Key Responsibilities:
· Provide assistance with personal care tasks, including bathing, dressing, and toileting, while respecting the dignity and privacy of clients.
· Assist clients with household tasks, meal preparation, and medication management.
· Support individuals with disabilities in accessing community activities, social events, and recreational opportunities.
· Implement individualized support plans and goals, ensuring that the unique needs and preferences of each client are met.
· Foster a supportive and empowering environment that promotes independence, choice, and inclusion.
· Communicate effectively with clients, their families, and other team members, providing updates on client progress and any concerns or issues that may arise.
· Maintain accurate records and documentation in accordance with organizational policies and procedures.
· Uphold the principles of confidentiality and professionalism in all interactions with clients and colleagues.
Qualifications:
· Previous experience in disability support work or a related field is preferred but not required. Training will be provided.
· A Minimum of Cert 3 in Individual Support or willing to obtain.
· Strong interpersonal skills and a genuine desire to make a positive difference in the lives of individuals with disabilities.
· Ability to work independently as well as part of a team, demonstrating flexibility, reliability, and a willingness to learn.
· Empathy, patience, and understanding when working with individuals with diverse needs and abilities.
· Basic knowledge of disability rights, advocacy, and person-centered approaches to support.
· A valid driver's license and access to reliable transportation.
