Ahanacare works directly with National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) participants to help them live a more independent and fulfilling life. Qualifications & experience
- Minimum of 12 months paid experience in supporting individuals with disabilities or aged care experience
- NDIS Workers Screening Check
- Current police check (within 6 months)
- Working With Children Check
- Have a current, or willing to obtain a First Aid and CPR certificate
- Two relevant, professional, and industry-related reference checks
- Medication Administration Assistance certificate or willing to obtain
- Cert III or IV in the relevant field
- A confirmation record of COVID-19 vaccination (doses 1, 2, and booster)
- Valid Driver's Licence and reliable vehicle (essential)
- Have flexibility to work a variety of shifts (day shifts and sleepovers)
- Manual Handling certificate
Tasks & responsibilities
- Provide support to participants with physical and/or intellectual disabilities such as following up with the participant's medication etc
- Understand and provide appropriate care to participants with low needs to participants with high needs who demonstrate a range of challenging behaviors
- Work under general guidance from the personal seeking support, and their family, within clearly defined guidelines
- Assisting with activities relating to daily living, community support, and empowerment
- Fulfill other duties as required by management and other department personnel as requested/required
