WISE Employment (WISE) is a successful not-for-profit organisation, committed to providing quality employment, training, occupational rehabilitation and allied health services to disadvantaged members of the community through a range of programs. We are now seeking dynamic and passionate individuals to join our Casual pool of NDIS Support Staff to deliver NDIS services throughout Bairnsdale and Traralgon.
About the program:
NDIS at WISE provides support to participants with current funding in their NDIS plans. WISE specialises in the following services areas:
- Capacity Building for Daily Living and Employment
- School Leaver Employment Supports (SLES) and Employment Support
- Social, Community and Recreational Participation
As an NDIS Support Worker, you will proactively engage with and coach participants to build the skills and confidence needed to participate in their communities. You will support participants to achieve their goals through; individualised person-centred planning. Assist participants to build connections within the community and help them identify interests by exploring work options, participating in work trials, placements, volunteering and training to travel safely and independently.
What we are looking for:
- Demonstrated experience working with people with a disability either professionally or through lived experience,
- A sound understanding of disability and the effect on a person’s social relationships, independent living, physical health, vocational and employment needs,
- Excellent communication skills, including written and verbal, as well as negotiation and interpersonal skills,
- Ability to build trust and rapport with people and use coaching techniques to support them,
- Able to identify, organise and use relevant resources to support clients,
- Ability to problem solve and work collaboratively and cohesive in a team,
- Demonstrate qualities of; empathy, compassion and integrity,
- Hold a current driver's license and own transport.
The successful candidate(s) will be required to; complete a National Police Clearance Check, be eligible and willing to apply for a Working with Children Check, have the legal right to work in Australia in addition to a NDIS Worker Screening clearance prior to being offered a role with NDIS at WISE. You are also required to be fully vaccinated against COVID19 prior to being offered the position.
