Responsibilities:
- Prepare patients for surgery by conducting pre-operative assessments, obtaining medical histories, and ensuring all necessary paperwork is completed.
- Assist surgeons during surgical procedures by providing instruments, supplies, and necessary equipment.
- Monitor patients' vital signs, anaesthesia administration, and surgical site to ensure patient safety and comfort.
- Collaborate with the surgical team to maintain a sterile environment and adhere to infection control protocols.
- Administer medications and intravenous fluids as directed by the surgeon or anaesthesiologist.
- Document patient information, surgical procedures, and post-operative care accurately and timely.
- Educate patients and their families on post-operative care instructions and provide emotional support as needed.
Qualifications:
- Valid nursing license and completion of an accredited nursing program.
- Proven experience as a Surgical Nurse or in a similar role.
- In-depth knowledge of surgical procedures, instruments, and equipment.
- Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Ability to remain calm and focused in high-pressure situations.
- Attention to detail and strong organisational skills.
- Basic computer skills and proficiency in electronic medical record systems.
