In this role, you'll:
Join our Network and Assets, Maintenance and Delivery Project Services North team, where you will manage routine surveillance activities and assist with complex surveillance activities on nominated contract works for the administration of road and/or bridge construction works for the Hunter Region.
You will also be responsible for:
- Conducting safety and environmental management and risk assessments and safe work method statement reviews to ensure that work is completed in a safe and environmentally acceptable manner.
- Participating in the assessment of contract documentation such as Safe Work Method Statements (SWMS), Environmental Management Plans (EMP), Environmental Work Method Statements, Traffic Management Plans (TMP), Traffic Guidance Schemes (TGS), and other planning documentation to ensure that contract documentation is accurate and robust.
- Assessing and reporting on the implementation of plans on-site and on contractor performance to ensure that management plans for construction site are appropriately implemented.
This is a permanent, full time position located in the hunter region, and we therefore welcome applications from candidates living regionally throughout Central Coast, Newcastle and Hunter Valley. This position requires regular travel throughout this region, combined with office days at your nominated office location.

About you
You have trade qualifications in a relevant field, or equivalent relevant experience, combined with demonstrated knowledge of and experience with the implementation of quality assurance systems, WHS and environmental management systems in construction industry projects.
You have demonstrated experience in planning and implementing surveillance and in monitoring and assessing compliance against standards, policy and practices. You also possess the ability to work collaboratively and use your excellent communication and interpersonal skills to build strong working relationships with stakeholders in a construction and/or maintenance environment.
You're proactive and use your initiative and attention to detail to get things done and resolve issues independently
Experience working in a similar role in Local Government and / or qualifications in Environment, Safety, Quality Management or Contract Management will be highly regarded.
You will also hold a current unrestricted NSW Motor Vehicle driver's licence.
You may be required to work outside of normal working hours on occasion, and you may be required to travel throughout the region and work at locations away from home as required.
