Job description

Snowy Hydro is a dynamic, integrated energy business that has been providing on-demand, reliable energy to Australia for generations. Snowy Hydro owns and operates a powerful combination of generation assets, including the mighty Snowy Mountains Scheme, gas and diesel plants, and contracted wind and solar energy. We also provide electricity and gas to about 1 million retail customers through our retail brands Red Energy and Lumo Energy. Snowy 2.0 is Australia's largest committed renewable energy project. This nation-building project will provide on-demand energy and large-scale storage for many generations to come.

We are seeking an experienced Sustainability Manager to join our team, and be an advocate and of sustainability across the business. This role will lead the development and implementation of Snowy Hydro and its controlled entities' approach to corporate sustainability. This is a full-time role preferably based in Cooma NSW. However, a flexible working arrangement in VIC or NSW may be considered for the right candidate.

This role will see you:

  • Working with stakeholders to lead the development of sustainability strategies and policies aligning with the Corporate plan and functional area plans

  • Coordinating the activities of the sustainability technical team 

  • Driving the implementation of sustainability actions with key internal stakeholders

  • Providing specialist advice to ensure sustainability targets are met

  • Maintain and coordinate the sustainability governance group that will provide oversight of sustainability plan delivery and programs of work

  • Lead delivery of internal and external sustainability reporting

We are looking for:

  • Tertiary qualification in sustainability, sciences, communications or related discipline

  • Experience in the development and implementation of sustainability initiatives

  • Corporate experience in sustainability/corporate social responsibility

  • Demonstrated ability to develop credibility and trust with internal and external stakeholders

  • Excellent understanding of sustainability principles and commercial drivers for sustainability

  • Strong background in communications, report writing and project management

  • Experienced in analysis, research and policy development

  • An alignment to Snowy Hydro's corporate values of Safety, Decency, Teamwork, Agility, Courage and Ownership
