About the opportunity
The Group Sustainability Office (GSO) acts as a Centre of Excellence that delivers sustainable commercial outcomes, accountability and transparency for Australia Post by optimising the social, environmental & economic impacts of our operations.
The GSO is a team of Sustainability Managers with subject matter expertise in the social, environmental and governance aspects of sustainability. This includes carbon management, human rights and Modern Slavery, measuring impact, sustainable procurement, sustainability strategy and reporting, circularity and waste management.
What you’ll deliver with us
As part of this team, the role of Sustainability Manager, Modern Slavery and Supply Chain Sustainability is to lead our Modern Slavery program of work and support the sustainable procurement program. The position suits a sustainability generalist, with experience in the social, environmental and governance aspects of sustainability, and a background in sustainable procurement and Supply Chain.
You’ll also
Co-ordinate Australia Post’s Modern Slavery program, including the enterprise wide cross-functional working group
Provide leadership, guidance and subject-matter expertise to maintain a continuous improvement approach to the identification, assessment and management of Modern Slavery risks within its operations and Supply Chain
Engage in key external networks and forums (E.g. UN Global Compact) to to keep informed of regulatory changes, and the emerging opportunities and challenges relating to identifying, managing and communicating Modern Slavery risks.
Draft and deliver Australia Post’s annual Modern Slavery Statement in accordance with the requirements of the Act, including drafting Board papers and managing internal approval processes
Support the sustainable procurement program, including social & Indigenous procurement, and supplier carbon reduction initiatives in order to meet the 2025 Sustainable Roadmap targets
You’ll also need
Strong experience in procurement/project management with an in-depth understanding of supplier risk analysis and Supply Chain mapping
Strong knowledge/understanding of Modern Slavery and application and interpretation of legislation - particularly the 2018 Modern Slavery Act
Experience in managing multiple projects ensuring change management practices are implemented.
Understanding of and interest in CR frameworks and themes, including UN Global Compact and the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
