Introducing All G Foods – revolutionising the future of food

Hello! Welcome to All G Foods, a first-of-its-kind biotechnology company based in Sydney, Australia that is transforming the future of dairy.

Our mission is simple: to create animal-free dairy products that are as familiar and delicious as they are sustainable.

Our commitment is simpler: no animals, no extra land, and a firm dedication to preserving water.

How we do it is a little more complex: through the extraordinary realm of biotech and cutting-edge precision fermentation technology, we’re unlocking the potential of nature-identical dairy proteins.

What we can achieve through the power of innovation extends beyond food and beverage to encompass nutraceuticals, infant nutrition, and everything in between. We believe we can feed all people, all over the world in a delicious, healthy, sustainable, and ethical way. The food revolution is in our hands and we're making it all good.

Role Overview:

In this role, you will prepare recombinant DNA constructs for microbial protein expression, grow microbial cultures, purify recombinant proteins, and analyse and manipulate those proteins using a variety of assays and techniques, including UV spectrophotometry, kinetic assays, SDS-PAGE, and more. You will also assist your team with sample preparation and other laboratory duties. This is a task-oriented role reporting directly to the Protein Science Lead.

To succeed in this role, you will draw on your knowledge of plasmid vector design, DNA assembly techniques such as Gibson assembly and Golden Gate, microbial culturing, chromatography techniques for protein purification, and protein analytics. You will work closely with the Protein Science team and collaborate with the wider R&D team. You will be working in our state-of-the-art All G Foods Innovation Centre in a fast-paced, high-throughput laboratory and harness robotics for sample preparation and analysis. Therefore, you must be comfortable generating and handling a large number of samples and coordinate your work with your colleagues whenever necessary.

About You:

As a candidate, you bring a high level of discretion and sensitivity when handling confidential matters. You thrive in a collaborative environment, demonstrating your problem-solving nature and ability to stay calm under pressure. Integrity and genuine care for your colleagues define your approach to work.

Above all, you are excited to be part of a company that is disrupting the food industry and committed to making a significant impact on humanity.

In This Role, You Will:

• Help design and build new expression vectors and transform a range of bacteria, yeast, and fungal species.

• Grow microbial cultures for protein production.

• Purify and analyse recombinant proteins using a suite of techniques.

• Help with sample preparation and the development of methodology for protein production, purification, and analysis lodged in collaboration with the line manager and/or the rest of the R&D team.

• Maintain microbiology and analytical equipment as well as laboratory consumables.

• Help with laboratory bookkeeping, SOP writing and maintaining logs of strain libraries and reagent stocks.

• Collaborate with the wider R&D team as well as hands-on and able to work autonomously.

• Collect research data, enter/store in appropriate statistical software, and prepare statistical analysis/reports as required and if necessary, carry out literature searches.

• Undertake appropriate research procedures in accordance with relevant ethics protocols and ensure that the appropriate ethics applications are lodged in collaboration with the line manager and/or the rest of the R&D team.

• Undertake any ad-hoc projects and other activities as needed by the business. Perform such work activities relevant to the role’s key accountabilities as approved by the line manager.

Essential Skills and Education:

• BSc (Hons) in Synthetic Biology, biochemistry, molecular biology, microbiology, or another related field.

• 2+ years of hands-on experience with Synthetic Biology and strain engineering techniques such as vector design, targeted gene editing, PCR, Gibson assembly, ligation, transformation, clone selection and aseptic microbiology techniques.

• Experience in the purification and/or analysis of proteins using techniques such as liquid chromatography, capillary electrophoresis, HPLC, SDS-PAGE and western blot analysis.

• You are a fast learner and keen to develop new analytical techniques.

• Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills with sound negotiating and conflict resolution skills and a demonstrated level of tact and discretion in dealing with day-to-day operational matters.

• Working understanding of relevant aspects of the Work Health and Safety Policy and relevant legislation, including Safe Laboratory Practices, as applicable to the work environment.

• Demonstrated ability to work in a fast paced and forever changing environment.

Desirable but not Essential:

• Experience with automated laboratory instrumentation such as liquid handlers.

• Data analysis/software development using R and/or Python.
