ABOUT THE ROLE
Our Team have a requirement for a Systems Engineer - based in our growing Head Office IT department.
As a Systems Engineer you will be responsible for the support, maintenance, and development of business-critical IT infrastructure, working closely with our System & Infrastructure Manager.
Your key objectives will be centred around the quality, integration, reliability, reach, and performance of our IT suite, ensuring our customers and stakeholders adapt processes and policies with the support they need.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Design, implement, and maintain pivotal systems and network infrastructure, including servers, routers, switches, firewalls, and other hardware
- Monitor network performance and security, ensuring uptime and reliability
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to network connectivity, performance, and security
- Implement and maintain network security protocols, including firewalls, VPNs, and intrusion detection/prevention systems
- Collaborate with other IT team members and stakeholders to assess infrastructure needs and develop solutions that align with business objectives
- Evaluate and recommend new technologies, tools, and methodologies to improve system and network performance, security, and scalability
- Provide training and support including the transfer of knowledge to IT team members
- Provide technical support and assistance to end-users as needed
ABOUT YOU
- Tertiary Studies or experience equivalent in a computing or engineering-related discipline
- Relevant certifications, such as Microsoft, Networking, On-Prem, Cloud, or Platform certifications
- Experience with server administration, including Windows Server, Linux / Unix operating systems and virtualization platforms.
- Experience with cloud computing platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP.
- Experience with Active Directory (including Group Policies), File Services (including DFRS), IIS.
- Good understanding of networking concepts and protocols, including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, and routing protocols (e.g., OSPF, BGP).
- Passion for community engagement and stakeholder liaison
- Collaborative nature and desire to be a part of the ‘bigger picture’ – be truly valued as part of an excellent team
