The Role
JPEU is seeking a Trials Support Officer to support the development, delivery and control of guided weapon and explosive (GWEO) tests at Proof Experimental Establishment Port Wakefield.
This role ensures the smooth operation and safety of all trials conducted within the Establishment, and is responsible for a range of duties including range control, emergency management, communication operations, and administrative support.
This position may require after-hours availability and flexibility in working hours to accommodate trials and emergencies. The role will:
- Serve as primary POC for emergency situations and incidents;
- Coordinate range control operations, ensuring safety protocol compliance;
- Manage operational communications, including radio communications and notifications to relevant parties;
- Provide administrative support to trials officers and management staff;
- Assist in the creation and maintenance of corporate task folders and documentation;
- Ensure all documentation for trials and range tasks is accurate, signed, and stored correctly; and
- Support administration of business and range management functions
About our Team
JPEU supports guided weapon and explosive ordnance (GWEO) and material tests in support of Defence programs and projects. The P&EE Port Wakefield team carry out test activities on a range of explosives, large calibre munitions and guided weapons.
The Range Management team manages test infrastructure and facilities within the Establishment. They work closely as a part of the wider team to control access and tasks across the range. P&EE Port Wakefield has a range of facilities for use, including:
- Swimming pool and sauna
- Basketball and tennis courts
- Gym (24h/7d)
- Personal Training on Monday, Wednesday and Friday mornings
- Rangers Tavern for social events
- Transport assistance Monday to Friday, pick up from RAAF Base Edinburgh to P&EE Port Wakefield (reduced cost for APS employees)
- Employment at Port Wakefield includes a Special Defence Locality Assistance allowance, $309.85 respectively per fortnight.
