Your Role
The Systems Engineer is responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining the systems necessary to support Praemium’s business operations. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure that system requirements are met, systems are performing optimally, and that service level agreements (SLAs) are achieved. You will troubleshoot and resolve system issues and ensure that appropriate security measures are implemented to protect Praemium’s data.
Main Activities of This Position:
- Work with developers and other engineers to design systems that meet the organization's performance, scalability, and reliability requirements.
- Deploy and configure servers, storage devices, networking equipment, and other hardware and software components.
- Monitor and respond to system performance to ensure resource management within outlined thresholds.
- Diagnose and resolve systems issues, maintaining system availability and minimizing disruptions.
- Maintain detailed documentation of Praemium’s systems, including configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting guides.
- Engage closely with IT teammates and internal stakeholders, fostering collaboration and alignment on IT strategies and solutions.
Essential Qualifications, Experience, and Competencies:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field
- 3+ years of hands-on experience in a systems engineering or systems operations role.
- Strong experience in the wider Microsoft technical stack, including O365, Intune, etc.
- Experience with third-party systems that support security functions, monitoring, alerting, and vulnerability scanning and patching.
- Proficiency in implementing, supporting, and troubleshooting both Microsoft/Linux operating environments.
- Strong knowledge of networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP).
- Understanding of hardware infrastructure (servers, storage, networking equipment).
- Familiarity with security protocols and practices.
- Proficiency in scripting and automation (Python, PowerShell).
- Ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues.
- Analytical thinking and logical reasoning.
- Adaptability to rapidly changing environments and technologies.
- Clear and concise verbal and written communication skills.
