(HEO8) $106,561 - $119,550 per annum plus an employer contribution of 17% superannuation applies. A possible attraction loading may be negotiated with an outstanding candidate (as per the Remuneration and Employment Benefits Policy).

Offering a full-time, fixed term position for until 31st December 2025 from date of commencement, with possible extension.

We are seeking a Systems Administrator to be part of the Australian Institute for Machine Learning’s (AIML) award winning Industry Solutions team which develops Machine Learning algorithms, tests, delivers and maintains software systems and works with leaders in artificial intelligence. AIML is the largest computer vision and Machine Learning research group in Australia with around 200 members including academics, research staff, higher degree research students, and engineers. AIML works on a mixture of fundamental and commercially oriented research projects in computer vision and Machine Learning.

The Systems Administrator will be responsible for sourcing, setting up, and maintaining the complex and powerful computing resources required by the Institute’s researchers and engineers. This includes providing support and training for users, as well as professional documentation.

The role will be key to AIML’s ability to adapt to increased staff and student capacity, opportunities for efficiencies, and emerging technologies. For this reason, the Systems Administrator must drive continuous improvement in the systems, processes, and operations of computing resources. Paramount in this responsibility will be ensuring security and compliance in hardware and software use.

To be successful you will need:

  • Experience setting up and maintaining a cluster and workstations.
  • Demonstrated interest in understanding & implementing relevant emerging technological advances.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities to meet deadlines.
  • Demonstrated ability to define policy and lead engagement with stakeholders.
  • Team player with strong interpersonal skills.
  • Strong communications skills: written and verbal with ability to write reports and technical documents describing projects.
  • Commitment to the principles of equity, diversity and inclusion.

Qualification:

  • Postgraduate qualifications or progress towards postgraduate qualifications and extensive experience in computer science or computer systems engineering; or
  • An equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training.
